The Information Society is defined as a social system where the creation, distribution and manipulation of information means cultural and economic activities have significant impact.
Economy of knowledge represents the economic counterpart where wealth and development are created through using knowledge. In this context, Information Technology’s role is central to production and the economy - as part of the evolution of industrial society.
Within the environment of activities aimed at favouring the development of Piedmont’s Information Society, CSP conducts analysis and economic and social research as part of studies to support increased ICT as a development accelerator for Piedmont. As well as carrying out studies with local authorities and in support of the political decision on requirements for broadband or ICT promotion, CSP takes part in international projects on comparative analysis of innovation in European Public Administrations. CSP’s part in ERISA - the network for innovative European regions and international networking - as well as in EC initiatives for organisations and work groups dedicated to innovation and the Information and Knowledge Societies are all important opportunities for opening up and exchanging knowledge that CSP does through technological and skills transfers in its strive for innovation in Piedmont.
