FAROS – Real-time Automation Framework Open Source – is a project to develop a free and extensible integrated environment, both software and hardware, to be used in the field of mechatronics, that could cover the sector needs from fast prototyping to industrial experimentation.
The FAROS framework is based on free software and open standards and integrates a web 2.0 environment support (forums, collaborative documents writing, repository and downloads, mailing lists, wiki, …). It can cover most of the design requirements of mechatronics and advanced manufacturing systems (such as motion control and PLC programming, but can be extended to the management of production).

FAROS is a project developed within the framework of the I Annual Programme of Polo di Innovazione MESAP. It is funded under the ERDF Programme  2007/2013 of the Piedmont Region.
